Acharya Tulsi

Acharya Tulsi

A Visionary Reformer & Spiritual Leader

Acharya Tulsi (1914–1997) was a revered Jain Acharya, reformer, and the 9th head of the Terapanth sect. He is credited with awakening the light of self-realization among the women of Terapanth, opening doors to their development and empowerment, even in the face of adversity and resistance. His vision and leadership enabled Terapanth women to define their existence and achieve new milestones on their journey of success.

Acharya Tulsi Smarak

On June 23, 1996, Acharya Tulsi departed for his eternal journey, leaving behind a legacy of enlightenment and transformation. To honor his immense contributions to humanity, Acharya Mahapragya proposed the creation of a memorial—Acharya Tulsi Smarak. The Terapanthi women, whose lives he had so profoundly impacted, took up the responsibility of materializing this vision, making it a symbol of gratitude for the freedom, self-confidence, and knowledge he bestowed upon them.

The foundation of the memorial was laid in June 1998 at Jain Vishva Bharti, Ladnun, under the guidance of Smt. Tara Surana and Smt. Kanta Bafna, in the presence of Acharya Mahapragya. The construction was supervised by Sri Hansrajji Baid, with the collective support of 380 ABTMM branches. The inauguration took place on December 16, 2000, during the Silver Jubilee of ABTMM.

To preserve the memorial, a dome was constructed between 2005–2009, led by Smt. Sayar Bengani and Smt. Sarla Bothra. The dome was inaugurated on October 6, 2009, during the 34th AGM of ABTMM. Today, the Smarak stands as a source of energy and inspiration, guiding the Jain Vishva Bharti Campus on the path of eternal glory.
